Health & safety for Rally Bohemia the main topic

The security precautions during the 40^th Rally Bohemia will be solid, but on the other hand the rally wants to stay spectators friendly. 

The 40^th Rally Bohemia is one of the most significant automobile competitions in Central Europe region and several tens of thousands of spectators come every year to line up along special stages of this famous rally. The organizers have prepared number of spectators’ places, which have been chosen carefully with respect to spectators’ health and safety. Outside these places the move of spectators will be limited or even entirely forbidden.

Rally, same as any other motorsport discipline, evolves through time. Also here elevated safety precautions had to be taken into account. The organizers of 40^th Rally Bohemia have for the very first time in its whole history used speed calming chicanes, which are supposed to decrease speed in chosen dangerous spots. This selection has been made in cooperation with Rally Drivers Association (CZ) and Safety Delegate, Mr. Václav Filip. Speed calming chicanes slow approaching speed also near chosen spectators’ places, where competitive car would otherwise break form full speed.

For each special stage there will be spectators’ places, where watching racing cars from appropriate distance will be safe. There are several places on the track, where spectators can watch a few metres closer and from above on elevated terrain, and at the same time remain safe. All spectators are of course warmly welcomed to Rally Bohemia and they surely can chose from offered attractive spectators’ places.

Despite all safety precautions it still applies that rally is very attractive sport, which can be dangerous to all participants. The organizer requests all spectators to keep within marked spectators’ places and in no case to enter places labelled as forbidden. Such places are mainly in close distance to track, under the level of track and places inside and outside curves. Spectators have to be very cautious around places, where racing cars achieve very high speed, mainly behind horizon of track of special stage.

The safety on the track of 40^th Rally Bohemia will be maintained by over 1 500 organizers including track marshals and safety delegates. Mr. Ladislav Křeček, experienced rally driver and multi-champion of the Czech Republic, will take the seat in SAFETY car driving along the track just before the main competitive field. His authority will hopefully reduce potential number of inappropriate spectators standing in wrong places.
