Jan Kopecký has won at Rally Bohemia for the sixth time in a Row
The jubilee 45th Rally Bohemia has finished with the sixth victory in a row for the crew of the ŠKODA Motorsport factory team Jan Kopecký – Pavel Dresler. The second place belongs to Václav Pech – Petr Uhel. The third place was subject to a dramatic fight right among several crews. Finally, it was the Norwegian Ole Christian Veiby for whom it turned out well.
Also the second leg of Rally Bohemia went under sunny weather. Jan Kopecký and Pavel Dresler in Škoda Fabia R5 increased their lead from the first leg and won before Václav Pech and Petr Uhel in Ford Fiesta R5 with an overall margin almost 38 seconds. With this victory on the home land of ŠKODA Motorsport team in Mladá Boleslav, Jan Kopecký has secured the gain of his fourth title of Czech Republic Champion in a row.
There was a big fight for the third place during the whole Sunday leg among several crews that only had distances from each other in second units. In the morning, it was Vojtěch Štajf who started best but then on the following special stage he turned round after a skid and lost about ten seconds. Thus Filip Mareš got on the fourth place behind the third Jan Černý, however, in the final SSs Ole Christian Veiby escalated his pace, achieved to get in front of Mareš and Štajf, and before the last SS he lost for Jan Černý only three tenths of second. It was just Jan Černý who became the biggest loser of the competition when on the last special stage in the streets of Mladá Boleslav, he lost about fifteen seconds due to the broken half-axle on his Ford Fiesta R5. Thus he dropped on the sixth place and the fight for the third place was decided in favour of Ole Christian Veiby. He completed Jan Kopecký in the colours of the ŠKODA Motorsport team. A change also happened on the fourth place at the very end of the competition when Vojtěch Štajf over-sprinted Filip Mareš on the last special stages, namely by mere one tenth of second in the finish.
The seventh to ninth places, again with small distances, belong to Roman Odložilík, Juuso Nordgren and home racer Štěpán Vojtěch. The ten top has been completed by brothers Szejas. The beginning of the second ten of the result list is also interesting. The eleventh place has been occupied by fourteen times Champion of Austria Raimund Baumschlager, returning after several-month break due to a vertebral fracture, and the twelfth place by two times champion of Hungary Ferenc Kiss. What is also interesting is the fact that among the twenty of the fastest crews of the overall classification are thirteen cars of Škoda brand.
The category of 2WD cars with one driven axle was won in the battle of young talented drivers by the Austrian Julian Wagner by fourteen seconds before Jan Talaš from western Bohemia and before his brother Simon Wagner, who has occupied the third place. In class 3 of production cars only three cars reached the finish. Among them it is Marcel Tuček from Domažlice who has won, and who with 35 starts is also a record holder of the competition with respect to the number of participations.
