New tracks should also contribute to the safety of the Rally Bohemia
As every year, the organizer of Rally Bohemia puts the primary emphasis on the safe course of the competition. The safety plan, which was approved by the Czech Autoklub’s Safety Delegate, has 303 pages this year. New technical tracks do not need the use of safety retarders.
All this suggests that the new special stages will also benefit to the safety. “Thanks to the slower and technical nature of the new lines, we assume low speed averages. Therefore, there will not have to be placed any unpopular among drivers and from the sport point of view often controversial retarders. This is now almost unprecedented thing in the conditions of Czech competitions. This fact was also appreciated by the pilot representative Petr Černohorský, who controlled the Rally Bohemia 2019 track, ” says Petr Pavlát, Rally Bohemia director. Petr Černohorský said the following for this year’s Rally Bohemia: “The organizer was very pleasantly surprised because three quarters of the tracks were not seen during the last years of Rally Bohemia. These tracks are very technical, full of alternating tempos and surfaces and constant action is demanded. I appreciate so much the fact that the organizers have done so much work with the preparation of new special stages.” Safety checks were then conducted by Jan Regner.
As most of this year’s special stages of 46th Rally Bohemia is a brand new one, so the safety plan had to be created as a brand new one. The safety plan provides a clear graphical representation of safety measures on each meter of special stages, which then clearly defines the form and safety organization of each section. For a lot of hours spent in the field, but mainly at the computer, thanks in particular go to the Chief Safety Officer Jan Šrámek. Without his careful, multi-month work, the rally could not take place, although the work behind the scenes is almost invisible to ordinary audience.
The rally’s safety also has its symbolic dimension. “Most rallys do not use number 13 in the starting lists. Apparently because it’s considered unfortunate. Conversely, wedding guests probably like this number because at least two weddings take place on Saturday July 13th in the surroundings of the track, which we must coordinate with the course of the rally. We believe that problems related to rally will be their last in the life of newlyweds and we wish them long years of mutual respect and love,” Petr Pavlát wishes to wedding guests, smiling but also with honesty.
The Rally Bohemia track runs through a rugged mountainous landscape that offers interesting and safe rally places to rally fans on high places and at a sufficient distance from the special stages, which usually do not come with a comfortable car arrival. It is necessary to take such a place before the start of the special stage and in no case enter the track during it! In such places we ask the audience for very strict adherence to the organizer’s instructions and, of course, unconditional respect for the marked prohibited areas. “In particular, any crossing or crossing over the course during a special stage should be avoided. Attention should also be paid during the ECO energy Rally Bohemia entrances – unlike classic racing cars, electric cars are hardly heard, so even though they do not compete in a classic speed rally, they could surprise someone unexpectedly, ”says Jan Šrámek, Chief Safety Officer of Rally Bohemia.
All spectators are welcome at the Rally Bohemia and a number of attractive spectator placeswill be prepared for them, that are chosen to be easily approched and no danger to spectators would threat. In spite of all the safety measures, however, the rally is still an extremely attractive sport, but at the same time it can be dangerous for all participants – it is never impossible to rule out an unpredictable technical fault or a loose wheel of a car that sets off on its own. It is therefore necessary to be alert to the passage of cars during the rally observation so that one can respond in a timely manner to any unexpected situation.
The organizer of the Rally Bohemia asks the audience to move only in the designated audience areas and in no case enter the areas marked as prohibited. In particular, these are places near or below the track, on both the outside and inside corners. Spectators have to pay more attention to their safety and to what is happening on the track where the cars reach high speeds and especially beyond the horizons!
The 46th Rally Bohemia takes place on the weekend of July 12th to14th 2019. The crew are awaited by a track with a total length of 551 kilometers, of which 160 kilometers are special stages, this year largely completely new. The organizers of the Rally Bohemia wish all spectators an exciting sporting experience while respecting all safety principles.
