Rally Bohemia as Regional Rally Cup Final Race

42nd Rally Bohemia is the final round of Regional Rally Cup, the newly emerged Polish-German-Czech series. So it will be Rally Bohemia that will decide about the winners of this cup of the three countries.

The competition of Mladá Boleslav was preceded by the March Rallye Erzgebirge in Germany and May Rajd Karkonoski in Poland. Now the final racing field of the Regional Rally Cup is moving to the Czech Republic within the 42nd year of Rally Bohemia. “The organizers of the former Lausitz Cup came with an initiative to follow on its tradition with a new rally series based on the link of three neighbouring countries again. As co-operation across borders is always a rewarding experience for drivers and a source of experience for organizers, we have decided to include this year Rally Bohemia into the newly established Regional Rally Cup,“ says Clerk of the Course of the 42nd Rally Bohemia Petr Pavlát about the competition inclusion into the series, and continues: “Yet in its first year almost thirty participants started within the Regional Rally Cup. Within Rally Bohemia 28 crews are registered in it. This proves about a favourable response to this series from the side of drivers.“

Let us look at the provisional cup classification of individual crews. Within the absolute classification Czech crew Petr Pertlíček sen. – Petr Picka in a Mitsubishi Lancer shares the first place with the Polish crew Zapała Mariusz – Gwiazda Łukasz in a Subaru Impreza. Both the pairs have managed to achieve one second and one third places. Definitely, the fight for the win will be also influenced by the fast Polish Jaroslaw and Marcin Szeja in another Subaru, who succeeded in winning at Rallye Erzgebirge. The same can be said about the crew Michal Srb – Radim Osička who hold a provisional third position absolutely thanks to their surprising win at Rajd Karkonoski in a Citroën C2 car of weaker category R2. A real chance to reach some of the absolute winner places can be also seized by the Polish crews Nowak – Dwornik and Schenk – Handwerker in Hondas Civic Type-R.

The favourites in the three strongest cubature classes 5 above 2,000 ccm, 4 up to 2,000 ccm and 3 up to 1,600 ccm are identical with the above mentioned candidates for the overall top positions. Class 2 up to 1,400 ccm is led by the Germans Tobias Edelmann – Sven Uhlrich in a Škoda Fabia before a Czech crew Jiří Zahrádka – Tomáš Šmíd in a Škoda Felicia, for whom Rally Bohemia will be literally a home competition. The massively represented class 1 up to 1,000 ccm is an exclusive domain of German crews in Trabant 601 cars. For the time being, their leading trio has been formed by Eichhorst – Vach, Knorn – Krajewski, Eckl – Strauss. However, the situation here is rather tight, and as directly eight crews have registered in Rally Bohemia, we can expect a big fight of these low-volume durable plastic cars for the final standings in the Regional Rally Cup on the Czech territory.

The cars staring within the Regional Rally Cup will go at the end of the starting field of the contemporary cars of 42nd Rally Bohemia.
