“Pedro“ in Lancia Rally 037 is in the lead after Leg 1 of Rally Bohemia Historic

Rally Bohemia Historic has completed the first demanding leg. The Italian crew “Pedro“ – Baldaccini that is in the lead ahead of the Sweden crew Matts Myrsell – Esko Junttila by almost twenty-five second has consolidated its position. The third place is still held by the Italian Carlo Marenzana – Luca Beltrame.

The comments of the fastest crews of the FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship in the evening service park:

“Pedro“, Lancia Rally 037: “After the problems at the beginning, we started to win the special stages and at this moment we are in the lead by more than twenty seconds, so we are more or less controlling the situation. Since the second special stage we have gained the right feeling about the drive with the fantastic Lancia Rally 037 again. Regarding the tomorrow race, Myrsell can cause us a problem, because the fast special stages that are on programme, could suit his Porsche better. We will drive flat out and will see.“

Mats Myrsell, Porsche 911 RSR: “There are beautiful special stages here, we tried to catch up with Pedro in them but it was not possible. We drove very fast today, I think, we will drive more carefully tomorrow.“

Luca Beltrame – Carlo Marenzana’s co-driver, Porsche 911 SC: “It was good even in the second section, in some valleys; however, it was getting dark. Everything is going fine, we are in the lead of our category by two minutes and I hope we will manage to keep this position even tomorrow.“

Within the classification of the FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship the fourth place is held by the Hungarians Ferenc Wirtmann – György Barna, and the fifth by the Swedish Tony Jansson – Daniel Westlund, both crews in Fords Escort RS. The sixth place belongs to the Italian crew Giuseppe Bosurgi – Stefano Cirillo in another attractive Lancia Rally 037.

Tomorrow Rally Bohemia Historic is continuing with its second leg where the crews will be tested in special stages in the region of Mladá Boleslav. The first crews of the European championship will be welcomed in the finish in the Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square) in Mladá Boleslav on Sunday at 1:50 p.m.
