Legends getting ready for Rally Bohemia

Forty-five crews from six countries are going to introduce themselves in the exhibition drive Rally Bohemia Legend accompanying this year Rally Bohemia. The main attraction will be the participation of the Finnish racer Juho Hänninen, the former member of ŠKODA Motorsport team, who won the title of the World SWRC Champion, European Rally Champion and a range of other successes in Škoda colours. The starting list of Rally Bohemia Legend will offer a show of unique historic racing cars.

During the exhibition ride of Rally Bohemia Legend the participants’ times will not be measured, so the crews will have enough space for presenting their cars to spectators. The oldest registered car is Wartburg 311 Coupe from 1960, however, in numbers, racing cars from the 70’s and 80’s of the last century are dominating the starting list. They will be headed by the World SWRC Champion, European Champion and IRC serial winner as well Juho Hänninen, who is likely to show the spectators he can drive even in a historic car Opel Kadett C-GT/E from the year 1976. After him will the current leader of this year European Rally Championship in ERC2 category and the winner of Rally Bohemia 2005, Vojtěch Štajf set off. He will introduce his unique Subaru GSR Coupe, with which he won the race La Carrera Panamericana in his class last year. Another participant of this competition, Petr Kačírek with BMW 3.0 CS, will not be missing either.

A lot of fans are likely to look forward to Petr Žáček who always drives his Audi Sport Quattro of group B fast and in an attractive manner. In addition, another legend will be sitting on the co-rider’s seat next to him – Oldřich Gottfried – one of our famous co-driders of the seventies and eighties. His generation mate and former driver of former AZNP Škoda Mladá Boleslav team, Jiří Urban, will pilot one of the legendary cars Škoda 130RS. A unique prototype of Škoda 160RS MTX from the same time, called “The Bastard“, will be introduced by the father and son Kafkas. The participant of long-distance historic competitions, Ondřej Coufal, will present a car typical for this competition type, namely Nissan Datsun 240Z.

A motley mixture of historic racing cars will be brought to Mladá Bolaslav by guests from abroad. These are mostly members of the popular club Slowly Sideways. Another car of the forbidden group B, Renault 5 Turbo, can be seen in the hands of Achim Welteke. We can look forward to the Mitsubishi Starion of the German racer Franz Fölling, Fiat Abarth 124 rally of the Polish driver Miernik or Ford Escort and Peugeot 104ZS of Belgian drivers.

The cars of Wartburg and Trabant brands are represented in the starting list right in several types and evolution stages. Neither will another representative of the former Eastern Bloc brands be missing – Moskvitsch 2140 in racing specification. And, naturally, each Czech autosport-fan will be pleased to see the whole range of historic racing Škodas. From among them the strongest representation is expected from models Škoda 120S rallye from the first half of the seventies and Škoda 130LR from the second half of the eighties of the last century.

Selected Rally Bohemia Legend cars will introduce themselves already at the ceremonial start of Rally Bohemia 2015 in Staroměstské Square in Mladá Boleslav in the evening on Friday 10th July. The complete starting field will be seen on the track of Saturday and Sunday legs always at the end of the first pass of the special stages. So the spectators staying on the same spot to see both the passes of the stages can be sure about a continuous programme on the track.
