Esapekka Lappi won at Rally Bohemia in Regional Rally Cup Classification

The ŠKODA Motorsport team crew Esapekka Lappi – Janne Ferm has become the winner of the classification of the newly established Polish-German-Czech serial, i.e. Regional Rally Cup, within Rally Bohemia. The overall victory of the first year of this Cup was achieved by Jiří Pertlíček sen. – Petr Picka.

Rally Bohemia was the final event of the three-round Regional Rally Cup. There were 26 crews at the start of this Cup. In addition to the regular participants, who had already taken part in its previous events in Germany and Poland, there were also some crews from the top of Czech Rally Championship. It was these crews by Rally Bohemia that dominated the first five in the Regional Rally Cup result list, namely in the following order: Esapekka Lappi – Janne Ferm (Škoda Fabia R5), Pavel Valoušek – Veronika Havelková (Škoda Fabia S2000), Jan Černý – Petr Černohorský (Škoda Fabia S2000), Věroslav Cvrček – Ondřej Šálek (Škoda Octavia WRC) and Jaroslav Szeja – Marcin Szeja (Subaru Impreza).

The Regional Rally Cup had the most dramatic finale at Rally Bohemia when the winner was not decided till the last special stage 13 Staroměstská. It was where Esapekka Lappi catching up with his Saturday loss due to a tyre puncture got ahead of Pavel Valoušek. So at the finish their distance was only four seconds in favour of the ŠKODA Motorsport Finnish pilot.

The Polish sibling pair of the Szejas, who placed on the fifth place within the Regional Rally Cup at Rally Bohemia, had already taken part in the March Rally Erzgebirge in Germany. There they managed to win, so they belonged to front-runners for the overall victory in the serial. Even more was it true about the Polish crew Mariusz Zapała – Łukasz Gwiazda in Subaru Impreza and Czech crew Jiří Pertlíček sen. – Petr Picka in Mitsubishi Lancer, which had been leading the cup classification together before the final Rally Bohemia. And it was just Jiří Pertlíček with Petr Picka, who could get exhilarated on the finish ramp in Mladá Boleslav most because his seventh place at Rally Bohemia ensured them the overall victory in the Regional Rally Cup 2015.

On the finish ramp the winners of the first year of Regional Rally Cup said:

Jiří Pertlíček sen.: “This was for the first time after a lot of years I drove at Rally Bohemia and it was wonderful. Beautiful tracks, a lot of spectators, faultless. And the absolute winning of the Regional Rally Cup, it is a super feeling. It’s been a long time since I managed to win something in absolute classification. From our side, maximum satisfaction and we enjoyed Rally Bohemia much.”

Petr Picka: “Well, we won something in absolute classification twenty years ago when we started to race together, I was there then. In the meantime, we did not drive together so much. So, we should start to drive together more again,” added the experienced co-driver with a smile.

In individual cubature classes of Regional Rally Cup the following crews won:

Class 5 above 2000 ccm: Esapekka Lappi – Janne Ferm, Škoda Fabia R5
Class 4 up to 2000 ccm: Pavel Valoušek – Veronika Havelková, Škoda Fabia S2000
Class 3 up to 1600 ccm: Dominik Brož – Tomáš Prokorát, Ford Fiesta R2
Class 2 up to 1400 ccm: Tobias Edelmann – Sven Uhlrich, Škoda Fabia
Class 1 up to 1000 ccm: Mike Knorn – Tino Krajewski, Trabant 601 ITRM
