Ceremonial Start Echoes Rally Bohemia Historic

Rally Bohemia Historic was opened with the Ceremonial Start in the Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square) in Mladá Boleslav yesterday. We are bringing some interesting news from the press conferences of the leading crews of the historic cars.

Short press conferences of the leading crews took place in the square shortly after the pass of the cars over the ceremonial start ramp. With what feelings are the crews entering the race?

FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship:

„Pedro“, Lancia Rally 037: “Unfortunately, two weeks ago in Belgium we had an accident at Ypres Rally and we had rather damaged our Lancia Delta; it could not be repaired in fifteen days. However, with respect to the European Championship, it is important to us to start at Rally Bohemia, and that is why we are here with Lancia Rally 037,“ said the driver who already won the title of the European Historic Sporting Rally Champion three years ago.

Mats Myrsell, Porsche 911 RSR: “We have a new car and it is good, yet in the past competitions, including Historic Vltava Rally at Klatovy, we were successful with it, so we believe to succeed even this time.“

Luca Beltrame (Carlo Marenzano´s co-driver), Porsche 911 SC: “Rally Bohemia is famous for its nice and fast special stages; our strong Porsche will definitely cope with them. We concentrate on success in our category; we want to achieve a good result in such a nice race.”

The press conference on Czech Historic Rally Championship:

Jan Krejča, Škoda 130 LR: “Although we would like to retain our last year first place in Bohemia within the Czech Historic Rally Championship, we know that it is always more difficult than the first winning. In addition, we always try to save the car a bit in the race to keep its reliability. We appreciate that even today there is someone who can organize rally at such quality,” says the winner of the last year Rally Bohemia Historic.

Břetislav Enge – Lucie Engová, Škoda 130 LR: “Although I have spent a great part of my sporting life on circuits, it was rally where I started in the seventies and spent two years in the competitions. I changed for the circuits especially for the financial reasons… simply it was expensive. I have returned to the rally competitions at the time when I can enjoy them, and I do that. I am rather afraid, though, I will go along the home tracks that I know and I could be over-challenged there. Therefore, the more must I obey the instructions of my daughter who is my navigator. It was at Prague sprint where I thought I knew the track of the circuit stage and so I did not have to obey her dictation, and as a result we ended up crashing into a column…,” says the European Champion of cars on circuits from 1981. “We have already been rehearsed after cooperating for years, so I hope he will obey me even here at Rally Bohemia. It is not difficult with him, in addition, after the Prague incident he has to obey a bit more,” followed on his daughter Lucie from the position of a co-driver.

Jaroslav Petrásek, Porsche 911 S: “We are driving the car with which we drove the long Mexican race La Carrera Panamericana last year, however, contrary to the cars of Petr Kačírek and Vojta Štajf, we do not have a special, but a car with a normal homologation, and that is also why we are taking part at the national championship of historic cars this year. Paradoxically, while we finished the Mexico, we have withdrawn from both the competitions we have participated at home so far due to a technical problems. We would like to break this unhappy series just at Bohemia.”
